National Social Security Fund Schedule Submitted

“I would like to thank you for your timely intervention and the positive response from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC),” these were the words of Mr. Charles Ngomo, a retired teacher, in an email to the Commission following the processing of his NSSF schedule by the TSC.

Mr. Ngomo complained to the Commission alleging unresponsiveness by the TSC to fill his NSSF schedule to enable the processing of his benefits. According to him, he was employed as a teacher in 1978 until his retirement on 30th June 2021.  Upon retirement, he submitted his NSSF schedule to TSC to file the details from November 1978 to December 1996 which were missing to enable NSSF to process his benefits. The delay by TSC to respond to his request prompted him to reach out to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) for assistance which did not bear fruit forcing him to seek the intervention of the Commission on 29th May 2023.

“I request you to intervene in the case where I retired from TSC on 30th June 2021. On 7th July 2021, I wrote to TSC to fill the NSSF schedule for my deductions from 1978 to December 1996. I enlisted KUPPET and NCPWD to assist but two years down the line I have received nothing. An NSSF printout dated 23rd May 2023 shows that TSC has refused to fill in my NSFF deductions over nearly twelve years,” read a complaint from Mr. Ngomo.

The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter with the CEO, TSC, leading to the filling and submission of the NSSF schedule.

“Kindly note that the teacher retired with effect from 1st July 2021 and the case was forwarded to Treasury on 18th February 2022. The NSSF schedule was not prepared immediately since there was a delay in the submission of prerequisite documents. It has since been prepared and submitted to the NSSF field officer for verification after which it will be submitted to the NSSF office,” read a letter from TSC to the Commission.
