A supplier, Mercy Kithinji, of Swift Ventures Limited, was finally paid for goods supplied to the College of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, following the intervention of the Commission. According to Ms. Kithinji, her company supplied the University with stationery and toiletries in 2017 and in January 2018, and submitted invoice for payment. She waited for the payment and it was not forthcoming and whenever she made a follow up with the bursar, the narrative was always “keep checking with us as we are waiting for funds from the main campus”.

The unending delay affected her business and made it difficult for the company to continue supplying other clients, compelling her to lodge a complaint with the Commission after following with the University for over a year and a half.

The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter with the Principal of the College, leading to payment of Sh217,109 owed to the complainant. Ms. Kithinji, in an email to the Commission on 30th August 2019, confirmed receipt of payment and expressed her gratitude for the intervention.
