Commission Participates in Monitoring National Police Recruitment Exercise

  1. Recruit1

The Commission was among oversight institutions which participated as observers during the nationwide police recruitment drive conducted on May 11, 2017.
The one-day exercise, conducted in all the 290 constituencies, sought to enlist some 10,000 youth to join the National Police Service. The Commission, in exercise of its mandate, and in response to a request by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Joseph Boinett, posted officers to some recruitment centres.
Overall, the Commission had presence in some recruitment centres in eight counties, namely; Nairobi, Kiambu, Makueni, Kajiado, Machakos, Mombasa, Isiolo, and Uasin Gishu.
The objective of participating in the recruitment process in an observatory role was to ensure that the exercise was free and fair, and that candidates were not discriminated in any way. The outcome, based on the recruitment centres observed, was generally satisfactory.
