A delegation of two Zimbabwe parliamentary committees is in the country on a learning tour of justice and human rights issues.
The Portfolio Committee on Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Thematic Committee on Human Rights of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, was hosted at the Commission’s office on Monday, March 27, 2017.
The purpose of the two-day visit was to exchange ideas and share experiences with their counterparts in the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs and interact with selected departments in the justice sector.
The delegation, led by Hon. Rtd. Gen. Michael Nyambuya, M.P, was taken through the mandate of the Commission in entrenching service delivery and accountability in the public sector. The committees were keen to learn how constitutional commissions in Kenya function in the new constitutional dispensation.
Zimbabwe adopted a new constitution in 2013 and is currently in the process of implementing it, hence the decision to visit Kenya to learn lessons considering that Kenya has successfully implemented its 2010 Constitution.
